As the seasons turn we are still paddling every 1st and 3rd Saturday morning when numbers and weather allow, and we will continue to do so all through the autumn and winter. If you’d like to join us check out our introduction to paddling page, you can find our e-mail there too. Our Tuesday evening paddles will continue a little longer but it won’t be long until it becomes too dark to go out later.

This weekend we had a nice amount of people for a lovely gentle paddle around the lake. Before getting into the boat our helms gave safety advice, and did a demonstration of paddle strokes.

OPfL members practice their paddle strokes on the lake-side before getting into the boat. One member is demonstrating the strokes, others are copying. The lake is in the background, the shore in the foreground.

The weather stayed dry, and while there was enough breeze to bring out a few sailboats, once on the water we had no issues with the wind.

After a nice leisurely paddle around the lakes and islands we returned to the shore. Everyone worked together to get our boat out of the water and back to its storage spot.

And, as usual, we had plenty of time to enjoy tea and cakes (and jam tarts!). It was even nice enough to be able to sit outside.
