Saturday was the paddling day we’ve all been waiting for, with glorious blue skies and warmth from the sunshine. It was great to see Sally, who we welcomed for her second paddle, we were also joined by four ladies from the Northampton Breast Friends Group. The cover was soon off, and we were on the water heading north. Chris expertly helmed and weaved through the various boats (narrowboats, cruisers, rowing boats, canoes and trip boats). We had the head and tail on today, and for extra attention, Esmee was on the drum and coaching.
We had a quick pit stop at Christchurch Meadows for a water stop and ginger cake (delicious ginger cake thanks Sarah, talk of bacon butties next time!).
In other news, congratulations to Esmee who is now qualified as a coach and helm. Sonia and Erica joined Secklow Hundred in their very first races at the Milton Keynes BDA event. Anne-Marie and Esmee represented OPFL in a composite boat in the fifth Venice dragon boat festival, as well as paddling around the Venetian islands in the 30k Vogalonga. Anne-Marie, Esmee, Sonia and Amanda represented OPFL at the Pool of Life Dragons and Flowers day, and raced in the new Pink Royals composite team at the BDA day. Wow, we’ve been busy!
