Today’s paddle was rather breezy. We took out our smaller boat (Sashiko) which can take up to 10 paddlers. We had a nice gentle paddle around the lake, trying to stay in the less windy areas.

Our helm asked us try steering without his input. It was definitely a challenge! We almost ended up going around in circles. You certainly find out which side has the strongest paddlers. We also did some backwards paddling which helped to identify some some new muscles not usually used when paddling forward!

We took some time to explore the islands on the lake and were treated to a great crested grebe and their 3 babies popping up around the boat. There were also terns, cormorants and red kites.

It was a very pleaseant paddle, and very nice to be able to return to the clubhouse after for tea and cake.
